The PR Boutique celebrated its 15th anniversary this month with a festive “Crystal Ball” party at B.B. Lemon in downtown Houston. The restaurant’s intimate terrace was filled with friends, family, current and past clients dating as far back as the firm’s inception in 2004. Surrounded by good company, guests enjoyed signature crystal martinis, light bites, and palm readings while reflecting upon the firm’s rapid growth in the past 15 years, including doubling in size and expanding into the Austin and San Antonio markets.
Karen Henry and Gretchen Brice founded The PR Boutique in 2004 after years of experience and accomplished careers at other agencies. The two seasoned public relations professionals launched their female-owned company, with one thing in mind: work-life balance. Combined, Brice and Henry have eight children, so they know firsthand the unpredictability, constraints and stamina needed to be a successful working mother.
“After years spent working for others and ourselves, Gretchen and I realized that two were better than one and our work ethic aligned,” says founding partner Karen Henry. “When we created The PR Boutique, we wanted our agency to offer the flexibility and support this industry often lacks. In the past 15 years we have seen this business model flourish and meld into the amazing team of women we have today.”
As the firm’s name implies, Brice, Henry and their team of publicists pride themselves on offering a personal alternative to large PR agencies. Although The PR Boutique is a full-service firm serving clients statewide, the company prides themselves on being creative, straight-shooters who deliver results.
After working together to cultivate the Houston office’s success, the dynamic duo expanded their expertise to the Central Texas market and spearheaded the launch of offices in Austin and San Antonio. Within its first five years, the Austin office saw a 600 percent revenue increase as it swept over the capital city’s market.
The PR Boutique serves a variety of business sectors including energy, entertainment, fashion, real estate, healthcare, restaurant/hospitality, retail and nonprofit. The Austin and San Antonio offices’ current and past notable clients inlude Lone Star Beer, Buckingham Center for Facial Plastic Surgery, Dry Bar, Briscoe Western Art Museum, Training, Rehabilitation and Development Institute (TRDI), The Arts Residences at Thomspon San Antonio, McCombs Properties, 70 Rainey, and Petro Waste Environmental LP to name a few. The Houston office’s broad portfolio has included clients such as Lupe Tortilla, Barry’s Bootcamp, Berg Hospitality, SoulCycle and CRAVE Cupcakes, Market Square Tower, and Patrinely Group.
“We are honored to have served the Texas markets for the past 15 years, and are truly looking forward to the next decade,” says founding partner, Gretchen Brice. “Our company has transformed and expanded to meet the needs of our clients in this new age of media, and we are excited to be a part of the PR world’s continual evolution.”
The firm’s forward-thinking team of women each brings strengths and talents to the table, maintaining The PR Boutique’s status as a leading Texas firm. Offering social media management, digital marketing, media relations, event marketing, and community development, The PR Boutique is able to meet the needs of each client for projects both large and small.
